What Are Fixed Departures? Everything You Need to Know Before Booking

You’re scrolling through holiday packages and come across something called a “Fixed Departure.”

Fixed date? Group trip? Everything pre-planned?

And the obvious question is — what exactly am I signing up for?

It’s actually quite simple.

So, what is a Fixed Departure?

A Fixed Departure is a trip where the travel dates and itinerary are already decided.

Instead of starting from scratch — choosing hotels, figuring out transfers, planning what to see each day — most of it has already been put together for you.

For example, there might be a 6-night Vietnam trip departing on 14th November. The itinerary, hotels, transfers and included experiences are already planned, and you simply choose whether those dates and that trip work for you.

Think of it as:

The trip is ready. You just need to pack. ✈️

Does that mean travelling with a group?

Usually, yes.

Fixed departures often have several travellers joining the same itinerary. Depending on the trip, that could mean shared sightseeing, transfers or other experiences.

But that doesn’t mean spending every minute following someone holding a little flag. 😄

There can still be free time to explore, find that café you spotted on Instagram, go shopping, or simply do absolutely nothing for a few hours.

And sometimes travelling with a group is part of the fun. You arrive with strangers and occasionally return with a new WhatsApp group that refuses to die.

Why choose a Fixed Departure?

The biggest reason?

Less planning.

International holidays involve a surprising number of moving pieces — flights, hotels, transfers, sightseeing, tickets and figuring out how everything fits together.

With a fixed departure, much of that homework has already been done.

They can also offer good value, because hotels, transfers and experiences are often planned for a group rather than individually.

And if you’re travelling solo, with friends, as a couple or even taking your first international trip, having a planned itinerary can make things considerably easier.

But Fixed Departures aren’t for everyone.

Maybe you don’t want to wake up early on holiday.

Maybe you want four days at the beach and absolutely no sightseeing.

Maybe you found a tiny hotel overlooking the mountains and have already decided that’s where you’re staying.

Fair enough.

That’s where a customised holiday makes more sense.

With a customised trip, we build the holiday around your dates, your pace and the experiences you actually want.

A Fixed Departure works the other way around: we’ve already created the journey, and you choose the one that fits you.

Neither way is better.

They’re simply different ways of going Kahin Door.

Before you book one…

Don’t look at the price alone.

Check what’s actually included — hotels, meals, sightseeing, airport transfers, flights, visas, insurance and anything you’ll need to pay for separately.

Also look at the itinerary carefully.

Because a 7-day trip with something planned from morning to night feels very different from a 7-day trip with plenty of time to explore on your own.

And if something isn’t clear?

Ask us.

We’d much rather answer ten questions before your trip than have you discover one surprise after you’ve landed.
